XYO Wants AI Developers Building Onchain Without Ever Learning Solidity

XYO launched a new AI SDK that lets developers build onchain apps using Claude, Codex, and natural language — no Solidity or blockchain expertise required.

XYO Wants AI Developers Building Onchain Without Ever Learning Solidity

For most developers, blockchain still comes with a steep learning curve. Smart contracts, wallets, Solidity, node infrastructure, protocol documentation — the stack remains technical enough that building onchain products is still largely confined to a relatively small group of specialized engineers.

XYO thinks that model is about to break.

The company, which launched one of the earliest Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePINs) in 2018 and now claims more than 10 million nodes globally, has unveiled a new AI SDK designed to let developers build directly on XYO Layer One using natural language and AI coding tools like Anthropic’s Claude or OpenAI Codex — without needing to write blockchain code or understand protocol internals.

The broader idea is straightforward: if “vibe coding” has already lowered the barrier to software development through AI-assisted coding, XYO wants to do the same thing for blockchain infrastructure.

“Provenance, sovereignty, identity — these are working cryptographic answers AI has not used because putting anything on a blockchain has always been too hard for anyone outside a small group of specialist engineers,” said Markus Levin. “We have removed that barrier.”

Making Blockchain Invisible to Developers

The launch reflects a larger shift happening across both AI and crypto. As AI coding tools become mainstream, the bottleneck is no longer generating software itself — it is connecting that software to systems that can transact, verify data, manage identity, and operate autonomously.

That is where blockchain becomes increasingly relevant.

AI agents, for example, can generate actions and make decisions, but they still lack core infrastructure most real-world applications require. An autonomous system cannot easily hold a bank account, prove its identity, manage permissions, or create tamper-proof audit trails using traditional infrastructure alone.

XYO’s SDK attempts to abstract that complexity away. Developers can use natural-language prompts inside AI coding environments while the SDK handles wallets, identity, onchain records, and blockchain interactions underneath.

The result is a model where blockchain infrastructure becomes embedded into applications without developers needing to become blockchain engineers first.

According to XYO, this opens the door for categories that have historically been too complex or expensive to build onchain. A prediction market that once required months of blockchain integration work could theoretically be assembled in hours.

AI-powered location games can use XYO’s Proof of Location infrastructure to verify where players actually are instead of relying on self-reported activity. Health applications can aggregate medical records, wearable data, and diagnostics into verifiable user-controlled datasets while AI systems generate recommendations on top of authenticated information.

The Data Trust Problem AI Still Hasn’t Solved

Alongside the SDK, XYO is also launching XYO Data Lakes — a cryptographically verified off-chain storage layer designed for AI systems.

The timing is notable because one of the biggest unresolved problems in AI is not model intelligence, but data trust. Most AI systems today are trained on fragmented datasets scraped from the internet with little transparency around origin, ownership, or integrity.

XYO’s pitch is that AI systems increasingly need verifiable data pipelines — especially in areas like healthcare, robotics, finance, infrastructure, and autonomous systems where inaccurate or manipulated information creates real-world consequences.

The new Data Lakes infrastructure creates immutable provenance records while keeping the underlying data offchain. According to the company, each dataset receives auditable tracking, change detection, and cryptographic proof of integrity while remaining compatible with existing storage systems.

In practice, that means connected devices, machines, sensors, or enterprise systems can continuously write data into environments where the chain of custody remains verifiable.

That matters because AI systems are beginning to move beyond generating text and images into environments where accountability increasingly matters. Autonomous agents handling payments, compliance systems evaluating transactions, or robotics systems interacting with physical infrastructure all require ways to verify not only decisions, but the data those decisions were based on.

AI, Crypto, and the Infrastructure Layer

What XYO is really betting on is the idea that AI and blockchain are becoming increasingly interdependent.

AI can generate logic, automate workflows, and create autonomous behavior — but crypto infrastructure provides the identity, payments, ownership, and verification systems those agents still lack. Conversely, blockchain systems without AI remain difficult to use at scale for ordinary developers.

The combination is becoming less theoretical and more infrastructural.

Founded in 2018, XYO says roughly 80% of its users come from outside the crypto industry through products like its COIN app, which rewards users for validating real-world data. The company’s Layer One blockchain is specifically optimized around verification, geolocation, and real-world data integrity — areas increasingly relevant to AI workloads.

The company says additional announcements tied to AI compute, gaming, and robotics partnerships are expected in the coming weeks.

The larger implication, however, may be less about XYO itself and more about where software development is heading. As AI-generated code becomes increasingly commoditized, the next competitive layer may not be who can build applications fastest — but who can give those applications trusted identity, verified data, autonomous payments, and accountability by default.

And increasingly, that infrastructure appears to be moving onchain.
