Ledger & Solana Mobile Announce Enhanced Security Features For Solana Users

Solana’s recent Breakpoint event in Lisbon bore-witness to several notable announcements regarding partnerships with the blockchain, all of which being designed to propel the world’s second largest NFT ecosystem into further non-fungible success.

To add to coveted digital artist Beeple making his way into Solana NFTs by way of a partnership with Metaplex, as well as Solana Saga users receiving a free 30-day trial of Helium Mobile (the world’s first cryptocarrier), its mobile-focused subsidiary ‘Solana Mobile’ is now integrating with Ledger Live to bring enhanced security to Solana Mobile users.

The integration will allow for easier digital asset transfers between Solana mobile and Ledger devices, which includes the to-be-launched Solana ‘Saga’- which is the blockchain’s flagship Android device that’ll be tightly integrated with the Solana blockchain and its corresponding SOL token and NFTs.

The partnership allows Solana enthusiasts to connect their Solana app to their Ledger devices (be it the Ledger Nano X or S Plus) or Ledger Live app, to securely manage their portfolio of assets, whether that’s through buying, selling, receiving, or staking SOL assets.

In addition, Ledger Connect, which is Ledger’s secure browser extension, will begin support for Solana and integrate with Magic Eden in early 2023, whilst in a broader sense, Ledger will be providing further support for Solana developers to seamlessly integrate their dApps directly with its hardware and software.

“We’re proud to partner with Solana Mobile to bring security to the Solana ecosystem. Our shared commitment to security will ensure Solana users have access to the best security on the planet - whether they’re buying or staking SOL through Ledger Live, or securely and easily collecting using Ledger Connect and Magic Eden."

"Your Solana is valuable, protecting your value by pairing your Saga mobile phone and your Ledger is a must.”

Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer at Ledger

For those not in the know, Ledger’s Nano X and S Plus devices protect users’ private keys and keep their seed phrases off of the internet and away from bad actors, whilst in addition to its ‘Saga’ device, Solana Mobile is developing the Solana Mobile Stack, which is an open-source software toolkit for enabling Web3-native Solana apps on Android.

November has (already) been a momentous month for the blockchain, as in addition to the aforementioned partnerships, the blockchain has also facilitated the launch of ‘ASICS x STEPN NFT-backed sneakers (exclusively on Solana Pay), backed Layer 2 blockchain ‘Layer N,’ and began hosting ‘The Graph’ substreams on its mainnet…who would’ve thought that we’re still in the midst of a crypto winter.
