AntSeed Wants to Remove the Middleman From AI Access

The infrastructure powering AI access is rapidly consolidating around a handful of centralized gateways.

Platforms like OpenRouter simplified access to multiple AI models through a single API, helping developers move faster across ecosystems. But they also introduced a new layer of control between AI consumers and providers — determining listings, routing requests through centralized servers, and managing payouts behind the scenes.

Now, AntSeed is trying to rebuild that model without the intermediary entirely.

Today, the company launched what it describes as the first fully peer-to-peer marketplace for AI model access, allowing buyers and providers to transact directly without a centralized aggregator sitting in the middle.

The network is live at AntSeed.com.

AI Access Is Starting to Decentralize

Unlike traditional AI aggregators, AntSeed routes requests directly between users and providers through peer-to-peer infrastructure rather than centralized servers.

Payments settle instantly in providers’ wallets using USDC on Base, while reputation, delivery history, and transaction records are stored onchain.

“OpenRouter and similar aggregators helped define the market for unified AI access, but that market does not need to remain centralized,” said Shahaf Antwarg. “AntSeed gives AI consumers and providers a direct, peer-to-peer alternative where access, reputation, and payments are coordinated by the network rather than a single platform.”

Discovery across the network runs on the same peer-to-peer architecture that powers BitTorrent, allowing the system to operate without a central server or single shutdown point.

The platform currently supports around twenty AI providers, including access to models like GPT, Claude Opus, Kimi, and GLM.

Importantly, AntSeed says it adds no markup to provider pricing.

AI Payments Are Moving Onchain

One of the more notable aspects of the launch is how closely the infrastructure mirrors crypto-native financial systems rather than traditional SaaS platforms.

Instead of holding balances internally or processing delayed payouts, AntSeed settles payments directly into providers’ wallets the moment requests are fulfilled.

The system also removes traditional account structures, API keys, and centralized authorization layers — design choices the company says are increasingly important for autonomous AI agents operating independently online.

That architecture extends into AntSeed’s Venice inference pool, available through diem.antseed.com.

The pool allows DIEM holders to stake tokens into a smart contract on Base that powers Venice AI inference across the network. Users pay USDC per request, while revenue streams back to stakers onchain in real time.

“DIEM was designed to make AI access something users can truly own, not rent,” said Erik Voorhees. “Seeing it extended to a permissionless network like AntSeed is exactly the kind of open ecosystem we hoped DIEM would help unlock.”

The Infrastructure Battle Around AI Is Expanding

The launch reflects a broader shift happening across AI infrastructure as developers increasingly push back against centralized control layers emerging around model access, distribution, payments, and compute.

Much of the current AI ecosystem still depends heavily on centralized gateways that control discovery, access, pricing, and monetization.

Projects like AntSeed are attempting to rebuild those systems using crypto-native coordination models where identity, payments, reputation, and infrastructure are distributed across networks rather than owned by a single platform.

The approach also aligns with the growing rise of autonomous AI agents expected to transact, purchase services, and interact with APIs independently.

In that environment, AI infrastructure may begin looking less like traditional SaaS products — and more like open financial networks where services, payments, and reputation move directly between participants without centralized intermediaries controlling access.
