MoonPay Launches One-Tap Crypto Checkout Across 100+ Countries

Crypto onboarding has long been slowed by friction: redirects, repeated authentication, and third-party checkout flows that pull users out of the apps they were already using.

That model worked during crypto’s earlier growth phases, but it increasingly clashes with mainstream expectations shaped by one-tap mobile commerce.

Now, MoonPay is trying to remove that friction almost entirely.

Today, the company launched MoonPay Headless Onramps, a new API-based crypto checkout system that allows wallets, exchanges, and applications to integrate native crypto purchases directly into their own products while MoonPay handles payments, compliance, and identity infrastructure behind the scenes.

The shift positions MoonPay less as a visible checkout provider and more as embedded infrastructure quietly powering crypto payments across third-party applications.

Crypto Onboarding Is Starting to Look More Like Ecommerce

MoonPay says the new system is the first headless crypto onramp supporting Apple Pay, Google Pay, and card payments across the U.S., EEA, and more than 100 countries — while many competing solutions remain limited to U.S.-based mobile wallet payments.

The shift reflects how quickly crypto onboarding is beginning to adopt mainstream fintech and ecommerce standards. Users increasingly expect purchases to happen instantly, invisibly, and without redirects or repeated authentication flows.

With MoonPay Headless, verified returning users can complete crypto purchases through embedded Apple Pay flows directly inside partner apps without leaving the experience.

Until now, MoonPay’s core onboarding product relied on hosted checkout widgets that appeared as MoonPay-branded payment flows inside third-party apps. Headless replaces that with a fully white-labeled API integration, allowing partners to control the entire checkout experience themselves while MoonPay handles payments, compliance, and identity verification behind the scenes.

The launch partners — including Moonshot, Bitcoin.com, Bread, and Trust Wallet — highlight how important embedded onboarding is becoming across consumer crypto applications.

Crypto Payments Are Becoming Infrastructure

The launch also reflects MoonPay’s broader push beyond simple crypto purchases and deeper into embedded financial infrastructure.

Founded in 2019, MoonPay says it now serves more than 30 million users across 180 countries and supports over 500 enterprise customers spanning crypto and fintech.

As crypto increasingly converges with global payments infrastructure, companies like MoonPay are positioning themselves less as standalone crypto providers and more as backend infrastructure connecting fiat payment rails directly into blockchain networks.

Increasingly, the goal is simple: make crypto onboarding feel invisible.
