Time 2021 Most Influential Crypto Companies
According to the magazine, Coinbase, Digital Currency Group, Mastercard, Paypal, Robinhood, and Tesla are among those who “shape our future”. Can’t (and won’t) argue, except maybe with Robinhood – which for those in the crypto community is a bit of a dirty word.
Leading the charge is Coinbase, which has recently debuted on NASDAQ with the largest direct listing in history. The ticker COIN catapulted to success and made the list for “shoring up crypto’s credibility”. The exchange’s name is on a par with such Titans as Amazon, Apple, Disney, Google, Microsoft, and other prominent brands.
Digital Currency Group (DCG), which is “mainstreaming cryptocurrency”, is one of the Disruptors – alongside Robinhood (“shaking up stock trading”). Rounding out the companies are crypto enthusiasts Clubhouse (“starting conversations”), and Tesla (“electrifying the automotive industry”).
Bright Future for Crypto Companies
Just as a reminder: DCG specializes in digital asset mining and staking; Robinhood offers stock trading and investing (in crypto as well), while Tesla basically boosted the current Bitcoin’s bull run by buying $1.5 billion worth of the coin earlier this year.
And finally, Pioneers Mastercard and PayPal have been distinguished for “moving finance forward” and “untethering the digital wallet”, respectively. Well-deserved as well: both companies were in the forefront of those who accepted cryptocurrencies, led a bold pro-crypto policy, and were never afraid to tread where no payment system had trodden.
I’m glad to see how Time sets another precedent, recognizing crypto as a part of our future – and the next stage of innovation. Can’t wait to see the 2022’s list.
