Digital payment platform Paxful recently entered into a partnership with Miami mayor Francis Suarez, as well as with a non-profit organization known as Built With Bitcoin Foundation. The partners are starting a new initiative that will spread awareness and understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology by giving away 500 Bitcoin 2022 Conference tickets to Miami students and citizens.
The goal is to spread “financial literacy” and develop a new educational initiative surrounding Bitcoin and the crypto industry in general.
What You Need to Know About the Bitcoin 2022 Conference
The new initiative will see the partners target local colleges and universities and offer conference tickets to students. The conference itself will take place in April, starting on April 6th and ending three days later, on April 9th. It is scheduled to take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The partners see this giveaway as a huge opportunity for those with an interest in crypto and blockchain technologies who might not be able to afford them otherwise. It is worth noting that general admission tickets for the conference are currently sold for $899 per ticket.
Anyone who gets a ticket will have access to all conference events. The organizers of the conference revealed the full agenda earlier this week, on March 15th. Some of this year’s speakers will include US Senator Cynthia Lummis, MicroStrategy’s CEO, Michael Saylor, entrepreneur Peter Thiel, Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood, and even the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.
Apart from those notable speakers, there will be dozens of others, which will include famous investors, influencers, and entrepreneurs.
Miami Mayor Continues to Support and Promote Crypto
The giveaway will be led by a portfolio team known as Venture Miami. This is a group that Mayor Suarez formed in order to promote job creation and diversity, innovation, and general progress in growing sectors. Suarez has been known as a big and vocal promoter of cryptocurrency, and particularly of Bitcoin.
He learned of the coin from major influencers such as Anthony Pompliano and the Winklevoss twins. Now, one of his biggest goals is to help push BTC adoption–a top priority of his second term. Suarez also leads by example, as he revealed last December that he is taking a portion of his salary in Bitcoin.
He has been constantly pushing Bitcoin adoption in his city. This includes starting a program that allows Miami residents to earn Bitcoin dividends. The program is facilitated by MiamiCoin — the city’s native cryptocurrency, which has generated over $21 million in extra yields so far.
Suarez is well-known for inviting Bitcoin miners to Miami last year following China’s crypto crackdown. As a consequence of a series of new laws and limitations, miners were forced to leave China in search of a new location where they could conduct their mining business. Suarez emerged with an offer for miners to come to his city and use Miami’s nuclear power for mining purposes.
