Crypto Hits the Fast Lane: F1 Miami Fans Pay with Crypto, Witness McLaren Domination

The energy in Miami was electric this weekend—not just from the roar of Formula 1 engines, but from the real-world momentum of crypto adoption on full display. As 275,000+ fans poured into the Miami International Autodrome, the FORMULA 1 CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX proved that crypto isn’t just for trading—it’s for living.

Thanks to the integration of Crypto.com Pay, attendees could use digital currencies like USDT, BTC, and CRO to purchase food and beverages directly at participating vendors throughout the event. It marked the first time fans could fuel up on snacks and drinks without touching fiat—making Formula 1 Miami the first F1 race to offer native crypto payments trackside.

“High-profile global events that bring together digitally native consumers are the perfect venue for real-world crypto utility. This is what crypto in every wallet looks like.”

Joe Anzures, GM Americas at Crypto.com

And Crypto.com didn’t stop at payments. From branded fan zones and the Crypto.com Terrace to the company’s commanding presence on the grid and winner’s podium, the platform cemented its role as more than a sponsor—it’s a core piece of the fan experience.

McLaren Makes it a 1-2 Finish

While crypto was making headlines off the track, it was McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris who stole the spotlight on it. Piastri led a commanding charge to the checkered flag with Norris close behind, handing McLaren a back-to-back Miami GP win in dominant fashion.

The team’s papaya-colored cars sliced through the competition, leaving Mercedes’ George Russell trailing 33 seconds back in third. Despite Verstappen starting on pole, the Red Bull driver couldn’t convert it into a win—a first in Miami GP history.

Even the drivers' parade brought fun and flair as the stars of F1 ditched the usual routine for a LEGO car cruise, drawing smiles from fans and quips from Lewis Hamilton: “That was the most fun drivers’ parade we’ve ever had... even with Gasly’s dirty driving!”

IRL Utility Meets Entertainment

Crypto.com’s continued expansion into global events like Formula 1 is more than just branding—it’s about showing the world what crypto-enabled living really looks like. With near-instant transactions, no fees for merchants, and seamless user experience, Crypto.com Pay is delivering on the promise of digital finance in high-velocity environments.

As CMO Steven Kalifowitz put it: “Helping expand access for guests to utilize crypto is just a natural next step for us.”

From the crypto-powered concessions to NFT integrations and fan-facing activations, the FORMULA 1 CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX offered a glimpse into the future of how sports, entertainment, and blockchain can come together—effortlessly.

 More to Come...

Missed the race? Don’t worry—this is only the beginning. With Crypto.com continuing to push the limits of adoption, and F1’s fan base more tech-savvy than ever, expect the next race to be even more plugged in.
