The announcement also listed the update for specific fixes for the Linux environment. As a mining-based GPU, it doesn’t offer support for Video Core Next (VCN), which is expected. This means the card does not have any ability to output, making it perfect for crypto mining.
AMD offers an alternative to NVIDIA
When it comes to mining, NVIDIA has not been getting a lot of praise. Its recently released GeForce RTX 3060 has a limiter enabled on the crypto mining features. This has crippled performance by up to 50%. However, the problem is the card was not only designed for mining but gaming as well.
Another GPU has been released to offer an alternative. With the release of the new AMD GPU specifically designed for crypto mining, it’s hoped that miners will now get to use an AMD graphics card dedicated strictly for mining purposes.
Similarly, the hash rate for the soon-to-be-released Radeon RX 6700 XT has been released. It is allegedly dialed in at 43 MH/s. This is slightly better than the GeForce RTX 3060, which has a hash rate of 41.5 MH/s before the limiter is introduced.
One advantage of the new AMD GPU is the fact that it doesn’t have the disadvantage of the GeForce model when it comes to hash rate limiter. There is no limit placed on the hash rate, which will make it attractive to miners.
New GPU can mine Ethereum
According to PC Gamer, the AMD Navi 12 GPU was first introduced primarily for Apple Macbook Pro devices. Now, it has become the first crypto mining GPU from the company. Companies like NVIDIA have been producing Pus for crypto mining, but those using AMD GPUs had to settle for the cards meant for gaming. To make their mining activities more efficient, AMD has given miners their own.
This means that NAVI 12 GPU will not offer support for VCN (video core next), which is a necessity for PC gaming. Based on the report, the card will have the ability of mining Ethereum (ETH). These dedicated GPUs for mining can open the doors for more powerfully built GPUs specifically designed for the mining of cryptocurrencies.
