World has announced MiniKit 2.0, a major technical upgrade on World Chain that standardizes development across web and World App environments while introducing faster transactions, gas sponsorship, and expanded funding opportunities for builders.

MiniKit 2.0 brings World Chain development in line with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard, enabling developers to write applications once and deploy across both web and World App platforms with minimal changes. In many cases, existing applications can be converted into Mini Apps with as little as two lines of code, dramatically reducing development overhead and accelerating distribution.

Applications now operate identically across environments, simplifying testing, iteration, and scaling from initial deployment to full World Chain applications. Developers can focus on building engaging user experiences without worrying about cross-platform compatibility.
Over the past week, Mini Apps saw more than 12.1 million opens, with all-time opens surpassing 2.2 billion, underscoring strong engagement across the World ecosystem.
Faster Transactions and Localized Payments
MiniKit 2.0 introduces Flashblocks, cutting transaction confirmation times from up to two seconds to around 200 milliseconds. This improvement is critical for real-time applications such as gaming, trading interfaces, and interactive consumer experiences.
The upgrade also expands local payment support for Mini Apps, adding wARS, wCOP, wMXN, wBRL, wPEN, wCLP, and EURC. Developers can now provide localized payment experiences without managing region-specific infrastructure, making World Chain one of the most flexible platforms for stablecoin adoption.

With Privy, powered by ZeroDev’s account abstraction infrastructure, developers can sponsor gas fees on behalf of users. This removes the need for users to hold wallet balances or manage bridging, lowering friction for first-time participants and streamlining onboarding.
World Build 3: Supporting the Next Wave of Developers
Coinciding with the MiniKit 2.0 release, World Build 3 opens applications for its developer program, supporting teams building on World Chain and proof-of-human infrastructure.
Participants have collectively raised over $15 million from venture capital.
The third cohort kicks off with a four-day hackathon offering $20,000 in prizes.
Programs include a Build Week in Seoul, a three-month virtual program, and a Demo Day in San Francisco.
