Buck Raises Yield to 10% and Automates Rewards for Holders

Buck is making a clear bet on simplicity. The yield on Buck’s core savings token has increased from 7% to 10% annually — and rewards are now distributed automatically.

No new token. No migrations. No manual claiming. For holders, the experience shifts from managing yield to simply holding.

From Active Claiming to Passive Income

Until now, Buck users had to manually claim rewards through the app. That step is gone — rewards are now distributed automatically via buck.io.

With the update, yield is credited directly to holders’ wallets, removing friction and operational overhead. Rewards are calculated continuously and paid automatically, aligning the product more closely with how traditional savings accounts behave — but onchain.

This update isn’t just about a higher number, said Travis VanderZanden, CEO of Buck Labs. It’s about making long-term saving simpler, more predictable, and more accessible.

A Push Toward a “SavingsCoin” Model

By raising yield to 10% while simplifying distribution, Buck is positioning itself as a yield-first savings asset rather than a complex DeFi product.

The changes reflect a broader shift in decentralized finance: users increasingly favor sustainable returns and straightforward mechanics over products that require constant interaction. Automatic rewards remove one of the biggest barriers to passive participation.

Buck describes this direction as part of a new “SavingsCoin” category — digital assets designed to be held, not traded or actively managed.

No Lockups, No New Asset

Importantly, the upgrade applies to the existing Buck token. There are no lockups, no conversion requirements, and no change to the underlying asset structure. Yield accrues continuously and remains liquid.

That design choice reinforces Buck’s positioning as a flexible, globally accessible savings vehicle rather than a fixed-term yield product.

Why This Matters

As competition across DeFi intensifies, yield alone is no longer enough. Products that reduce cognitive load — fewer steps, fewer decisions, fewer surprises — are increasingly winning user trust.

Buck’s move combines both: higher yield and less effort.
