Stocks, funds and bonds are finding their way into crypto wallets. Securitize wants to give the investment firms behind those products another place to reach customers: Stellar.

The company [announced plans](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/securitize-to-integrate-with-stellar-network-302921595.html) on **October 28** to connect its platform to the network, allowing asset managers to issue and manage blockchain-based investments there. The news came during **Meridian, Stellar’s annual conference in Lisbon**.

Securitize already works with firms including **BlackRock, Apollo and Hamilton Lane** and reported around **$5 billion in tokenized securities** across its platform as of September 30. Its planned expansion could bring more investment choices to Stellar, although the first products have yet to be announced.

Securitize outlines its plan to support tokenized financial assets on Stellar.

## What Could This Mean for Investors?

Imagine opening an investment app and holding a fund alongside your digital dollars. You can see both in one place, with the fund holding recorded on a blockchain.

That is one way tokenization can work. It turns an investment into a digital token that can be held in a supported wallet and transferred under the product’s rules. [Stellar’s existing investment ecosystem](https://stellar.org/learn/tokenized-investment-assets) includes examples ranging from Franklin Templeton’s BENJI fund to WisdomTree’s GOLD and an ABN AMRO digital bond.

Securitize would give asset managers another way to offer products through that network. For readers, the interesting question is what this makes easier: finding an investment, buying it, holding it or moving it between supported services.

## Why Stellar?

Putting an investment on a blockchain involves more than creating a token. The company offering it needs ways to check customers and control where the asset can go.

[Stellar has tools for those tasks](https://stellar.org/faq) built into its network. An issuer can allow only approved accounts to hold an asset, freeze it or use a feature called a clawback to recover tokens when enabled. These controls help firms manage financial products on a public blockchain.

That helps explain the fit: Stellar provides the network, while Securitize brings its experience issuing and managing digital securities.

## More Familiar Investments Are Joining Crypto Wallets

Earlier this month, Securitize launched its U.S. stock-token offering on Solana. The tokens are backed by underlying shares, with access for eligible investors who complete the required checks. Blockster’s [look at the launch](https://blockster.com/securitize-stocks-solana-tokenized-us-equities) explains what buyers actually own.

Yesterday, we also covered [Janus Henderson’s JQQQ fund](https://blockster.com/janus-henderson-brings-the-nasdaq-100-onchain-with-jqqq), which brings Nasdaq-100 exposure onchain. The growing product range points toward wallets becoming places to manage a wider mix of investments.

For Securitize and Stellar, the next step is naming the first products and when investors can access them. **Today’s announcement sets up that expansion; the investment menu is still to come.**
