# Ethereum’s Markets Are Scattered. Aero Wants to Bring Them Together.

> Aerodrome and Velodrome will become Aero on October 21, bringing seven networks into one exchange system—with new trading tools, shared rewards and a token migration.

Buying a token on Ethereum can still involve more preparation than the trade itself. The money is on one network. The market is on another. Before buying anything, a user may need to move assets, switch networks and work out how to pay transaction fees.

Aero is preparing to take more of that work off the user’s hands.

On October 21, Aerodrome and Velodrome are scheduled to combine into Aero, an exchange system launching across **Base, Ethereum Mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc, Ink, Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum**. The launch is set for **8 p.m. EDT**, or midnight UTC on October 22, according to the project’s [official launch update](https://aero.xyz/articles/aero-launch-update-all-systems-go/).

The ambition is straightforward: make markets spread across different blockchains easier to reach through one trading experience.

In its October 12 countdown, the project put it simply: “Aero is coming to unify liquidity across Ethereum.”

> Seven Networks, One Exchange

The merger brings together two established exchange communities under one system built on Dromos Labs’ MetaDEX03 architecture. The Foundation’s [original announcement](https://paragraph.com/@aerodrome-foundation/aero) identified Base as the network’s operational hub.

Aero’s latest launch announcement confirms that all seven networks will receive full deployments, with AERO rewards distributed across them.

That expansion increases the range of markets Aero can compete for. The project estimates that the networks currently served by Aerodrome and Velodrome account for approximately **17% of spot trading volume across Ethereum-compatible chains**. It says the launch will roughly triple that addressable share.

That is a measure of the opportunity available on those networks. Winning the trading activity will depend on the prices, liquidity and experience Aero delivers.

For users, the more immediate question is simpler: how many steps can it remove from a trade?

> Less Work Between the Wallet and the Trade

Aero’s answer is [Metaswaps](https://aero.xyz/features/metaswaps/), a tool designed to exchange tokens across connected chains through a single interface.

Instead of requiring users to manually bridge assets and assemble a transaction across several services, Aero says Metaswaps will draw on liquidity held in its onchain pools. Users should also be able to avoid separately acquiring gas tokens for the destination network.

For someone holding an asset on one chain and wanting a token on another, the intended experience is one trade rather than a series of preparatory transactions.

The same design could matter to token issuers. Aero says a project can supply liquidity to a pool on one network while receiving trading activity sourced from elsewhere in the system.

That would reduce the need to build a separate market everywhere potential buyers are active. It does not make individual blockchains disappear; it puts more of the coordination inside the exchange.

Aero also plans an integration toolkit for wallets, trading applications and AI agents, extending that experience beyond its own website.

> Rewards Follow Where Trading Could Go Next

Connecting markets is only part of the plan. Aero is also changing how participants decide which pools receive incentives.

Through [Predictive Allocation](https://aero.xyz/features/predictive-allocation/), holders of **sAERO**, its staked token, will direct AERO rewards toward particular liquidity pools. They will receive exchange revenue from the pools they support as it accrues.

The idea is to encourage participants to anticipate demand: support a market early, attract liquidity and benefit if trading develops there.

Aero says allocations will be adjustable every **48 hours at launch**, subject to a cooldown intended to shorten over time. That replaces the constraint of leaving an allocation in place for an entire weekly cycle.

The distinction matters. Liquidity providers supply assets for trading; sAERO holders direct the rewards intended to attract those assets. The system connects their incentives, but neither trading demand nor returns are guaranteed.

Its practical test will be whether incentives produce useful markets that traders continue to use.

> Tokenized Stocks Are Already Part of the Pitch

Aero’s expansion also arrives as its predecessor pushes further into tokenized equities.

In an October 11 post, the project said Aerodrome’s tokenized-stock trading volume the previous day exceeded the combined total of other decentralized exchanges across Ethereum-compatible networks. That is a project-reported, single-day comparison—not an independently established long-term market share.

Still, it explains why the merger’s reach matters beyond familiar cryptocurrency pairs. Bringing more assets onchain creates a need for markets where people can actually trade them.

> What Changes for AERO and VELO Holders

The [Aero Upgrade and Launch Hub](https://aero.xyz/aero-upgrade/) now sets out the conversion terms:

| Current holding | Planned conversion |
| --- | --- |
| 1 AERO | 1 new AERO |
| 1 VELO | Approximately 0.044 new AERO |
| veAERO or veVELO locked positions | Upgrade into sAERO under the applicable conversion terms |

The approximate VELO rate uses projected token supplies at launch. The allocation gives Aerodrome holders **94.5%** of the new supply and Velodrome holders **5.5%**.

The hub also lists preparation dates ahead of launch. It instructs holders of xVELO on networks other than OP Mainnet and Ink to bridge it back to OP Mainnet by **October 15**, and holders of veNFTs in Relays or other vaults and protocols to withdraw those positions by **October 20**.

Upgrade portals are scheduled to open alongside the new protocol on October 21, when existing AERO and VELO emissions end and the new reward system begins.

> Ethereum’s Next Test Is the Experience

Aero fits into a wider effort to make Ethereum’s expanding ecosystem function more coherently.

As Blockster explored in its coverage of [Puffer’s work with Google Cloud and Anchorage Digital](https://blockster.com/first-google-cloud-now-anchorage-puffer-is-building-ethereum-for-money-that-moves-itself), builders are tackling different parts of that experience—from transaction processing to custody and settlement. Aero’s focus is the market itself: finding liquidity, executing trades and directing incentives.

The useful measure after October 21 will be what a trader can accomplish with fewer steps, what an issuer can achieve with a single pool, and whether liquidity remains when the initial launch attention fades.

Seven connected deployments give Aero room to compete. The trading experience will determine how much of that room it earns.
