AI stocks rebounded Monday, but the recovery was selective. Intel, AMD and Amazon led the gains while Meta slipped ahead of an earnings report that will give investors a closer look at the economics of its AI expansion.

At **10:43 a.m. ET on October 19**, the **Nasdaq Composite rose 1.25% to 26,466.56** and the **S&P 500 gained 0.53% to 7,699.70**. The Dow slipped 0.09% to 51,956.96.

The distinction matters. Investors were buying parts of the AI trade after a difficult stretch, while still marking down other companies exposed to the same spending cycle. This week's results will test whether rising demand is translating into enough revenue and cash to support the buildout.

## Which Stocks Are Up—and Which Are Down?

The snapshot below uses regular-session prices around 10:43 a.m. ET. Today's gains sit alongside the longer-term performance that helps explain why a rebound does not necessarily mean a recovery is complete.

| Company | Price | Today | 30-day window | Quarter to date | Year to date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Intel (INTC) | $93.97 | +4.58% | −13.48% | −21.85% | +154.65% |
| Amazon (AMZN) | $260.23 | +4.09% | +2.57% | +4.45% | +12.74% |
| AMD (AMD) | $548.04 | +3.65% | −2.10% | −10.42% | +155.90% |
| Broadcom (AVGO) | $336.39 | +2.32% | −5.93% | −4.22% | −2.81% |
| CoreWeave (CRWV) | $62.74 | +2.20% | −22.88% | −27.98% | −12.38% |
| Nvidia (NVDA) | $216.84 | +1.26% | −2.45% | −5.06% | +16.27% |
| Meta (META) | $699.69 | −1.36% | +5.10% | −3.51% | +6.00% |

Intraday figures are a snapshot, not closing results._

**Intel had a specific catalyst:** JPMorgan upgraded the shares from Underweight to Neutral, according to [Yahoo Finance's reporting](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/article/why-intel-stock-just-got-a-big-upgrade-114710413.html). The bank's $85 target remained below Monday's market price. That makes this a less bearish assessment after a pullback, rather than an outright Buy recommendation.

**Amazon also received analyst support.** Morgan Stanley raised its target to $350 from $335, [MarketScreener reported](https://www.marketscreener.com/news/morgan-stanley-adjusts-price-target-on-amazon-com-to-350-from-335-ce785cdbda88f521). Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom participated in the broader chip rebound; their simultaneous gains should not be read as evidence of a separate new earnings announcement from each company.

**CoreWeave's bounce came with a qualification.** Goldman Sachs upgraded it to Buy from Neutral but cut its target to $106 from $129, according to [Investor's Business Daily](https://www.investors.com/news/technology/neoclouds-goldman-sachs-upgrades-coreweave-microsoft-shelves-nscale-project/). The stock remained nearly 28% below its September closing price. CNBC's Monday post captures the analyst call behind that move.

Energy stocks moved the other way: **Exxon Mobil fell 0.55% to $178.00** and **Chevron slipped 0.24% to $224.46**, alongside the morning retreat in oil described in [Reuters' market report](https://www.reuters.com/business/wall-st-futures-climb-ai-stocks-rebound-oil-yields-fall-2026-10-19/). Meta's decline also showed that the AI rebound was not lifting every major technology stock.

## Meta's Earnings Put Cash Generation in Focus

Meta will [release its third-quarter results after the close on Wednesday, October 21](https://investor.atmeta.com/investor-news/press-release-details/2026/Meta-to-Announce-Third-Quarter-2026-Results/default.aspx), with its call at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Its [last quarterly report](https://investor.atmeta.com/investor-news/press-release-details/2026/Meta-Reports-Second-Quarter-2026-Results/default.aspx) shows the tension investors will examine. Second-quarter revenue rose **28% to $60.80 billion**, but operating margin fell to **31% from 43%**. Capital expenditures, including finance-lease principal payments, reached **$31.08 billion**, leaving **$784 million in free cash flow**.

Meta's July outlook put full-year capital spending at **$130 billion–$145 billion**, with third-quarter revenue projected at **$61 billion–$64 billion**. Wednesday will show how actual results compare and whether management changes its spending expectations.

Blockster's coverage of [Muse Wonder and Meta's push into agents that finish work](https://blockster.com/metas-next-ai-bet-agents-that-can-handle-the-work) explains the product ambition. For shareholders, the next question is how that ambition affects revenue growth, margins and cash generation.

## Strong Chip Demand Still Has to Produce Returns

There is evidence that demand remains substantial. In its [October 15 results](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1046179/000104617926000726/a3q26e_withguidancexfinal.htm), TSMC reported third-quarter revenue of **$46.72 billion** and forecast **$52.3 billion–$54.3 billion** for the fourth quarter.

> “Our business in the third quarter was supported by strong demand for our leading-edge process technologies.”
>
> — Wendell Huang, TSMC chief financial officer, October 15, 2026

Those orders support the chip industry's growth case. They do not establish that every customer buying computing capacity will earn an attractive return on it. As Blockster explored in [AI's chip-financing boom](https://blockster.com/ai-chip-financing-broadcom-oracle-spacex), hardware spending can arrive well before the revenue needed to repay it.

Nvidia's [GTC Berlin conference runs October 20–22](https://www.nvidia.com/en-eu/gtc/), with Jensen Huang's keynote on October 21. Alongside the earnings reports, it gives investors another view of the technology and customers behind the spending. Nvidia's preview of a session on AI-factory performance and energy efficiency connects directly to that cost question.

## Crypto Stocks: Miners Rebound While Trading Platforms Slip

The equity market offers several different kinds of crypto exposure. At around **10:43 a.m. ET**, Coinbase, Robinhood, Circle and Bullish were lower, while Strategy, Galaxy and the mining and infrastructure names below were higher.

| Company | Price | Today | 30-day window | Quarter to date | Year to date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Coinbase (COIN) | $171.09 | −1.20% | −11.93% | −8.22% | −24.35% |
| Robinhood (HOOD) | $98.33 | −0.55% | −17.94% | −12.60% | −13.06% |
| Circle (CRCL) | $81.89 | −0.40% | −10.78% | −0.34% | +3.27% |
| Bullish (BLSH) | $28.91 | −1.98% | −24.61% | −17.15% | −23.67% |
| Galaxy Digital (GLXY) | $16.63 | +3.00% | −32.67% | −26.89% | −25.65% |
| Strategy (MSTR) | $139.33 | +1.83% | −9.48% | −8.99% | −8.31% |
| MARA Holdings (MARA) | $7.69 | +2.06% | −41.96% | −32.17% | −14.42% |
| Riot Platforms (RIOT) | $14.23 | +3.72% | −40.08% | −29.38% | +12.31% |
| CleanSpark (CLSK) | $8.82 | +5.02% | −39.03% | −31.51% | −12.83% |
| IREN (IREN) | $28.28 | +4.76% | −39.43% | −30.83% | −25.14% |
| Hut 8 (HUT) | $68.37 | +0.91% | −30.76% | −20.60% | +48.81% |

_Source:_ _[Yahoo Finance U.S.-listed share prices and historical closes](https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/COIN/history/)__, using the same stock-return methodology as the first table. Quotes were recorded between 10:42 and 10:44 a.m. ET. These companies have different business mixes; the table is a watchlist, not a single industry index._

**The miners' gains follow much larger losses.** CleanSpark was up **5.02%**, Riot **3.72%** and MARA **2.06%** this morning. Yet all three remained down roughly **39%–42% over the 30-day window**. A positive session recovers only a small part of those declines. Mining economics depend on Bitcoin revenue relative to power costs, equipment spending and competition for block rewards.

**Trading and stablecoin businesses were weaker.** Coinbase fell **1.20%**, Robinhood **0.55%**, Circle **0.40%** and Bullish **1.98%**. Their revenue drivers differ: brokerage and exchange activity depend partly on customer trading, while [Circle's disclosures](https://www.circle.com/pressroom/circle-reports-first-quarter-2026-results) show how USDC circulation and the return on reserve assets affect its income. These are businesses with operating expenses and earnings expectations, so their shares need not follow Bitcoin tick for tick.

**AI infrastructure creates another connection.** Galaxy rose **3.00%**, but remained down **26.89% this quarter**. The company operates both digital-asset and data-center businesses; its [second-quarter results](https://investor.galaxy.com/news-releases/news-release-details/galaxy-announces-second-quarter-2026-financial-results) described delivering the first phase of Helios capacity to CoreWeave. That makes AI customer demand and financing relevant alongside crypto-market activity. IREN and Hut 8 are included in this broader infrastructure watchlist rather than treated as interchangeable Bitcoin holdings.

## Major Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin Is Holding Up Better Than Many Altcoins

Bitcoin traded near **$81,858**, about **0.77% above its level 30 days earlier**, while every other asset in the table was lower over that window. The year-to-date comparison was weaker across the group.

| Asset | Price | 30 days | Quarter to date | Year to date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Bitcoin (BTC) | $81,857.95 | +0.77% | −2.03% | −6.46% |
| Ether (ETH) | $2,393.31 | −9.07% | −10.82% | −19.34% |
| XRP | $1.2964 | −8.09% | −12.90% | −29.54% |
| Solana (SOL) | $103.84 | −6.46% | −12.00% | −16.58% |
| BNB | $725.96 | −4.74% | −5.50% | −15.90% |
| Dogecoin (DOGE) | $0.0791 | −9.86% | −16.30% | −32.59% |
| Cardano (ADA) | $0.2166 | −4.89% | −12.15% | −34.91% |
| Chainlink (LINK) | $11.95 | −3.89% | −16.81% | −1.99% |
| Avalanche (AVAX) | $9.60 | −4.79% | −12.17% | −21.96% |

Figures exclude staking rewards and are not 24-hour returns; prices below $2 are displayed to four decimal places._

**Bitcoin's resilience was relative.** It was still down **2.03% this quarter** and **6.46% this year**. Ether and Solana had lost **10.82%** and **12.00%** this quarter, respectively. Dogecoin and Chainlink were down more than **16%** over the same period.

The year-to-date figures add another distinction: Chainlink was down only **1.99%**, despite its recent weakness, while Cardano and Dogecoin were down **34.91%** and **32.59%**. A token can have a difficult month without being the year's weakest performer. Stablecoins are excluded from this return comparison because they are designed to track their reference currencies.

Monday's recovery improves the starting point for a busy week. The tables show how uneven that improvement remains: chip shares and several miners were rebounding, trading platforms were softer, and most large tokens still carried quarterly losses. Earnings and cash-generation disclosures will help establish whether the equity recovery has support beyond a single session.
